Unhappy Halloween

Backyard Slaughter Enacted
Kym Marr
writes: I wanted to share with you Halloween 2003 in Lahaina, under the
Banyan Tree. My boyfriend Paul and I performed "Backyard
Slaughter" for the audience, during the costume contest. I was a
pure, sweet, little goat until the mean butcher forced vinegar down my
throat then slit my throat and sliced me up. As I was wailing "oooooooooh",
the audience was quite shocked to say the least.
Unfortunately,
we didn't win the $1000 contest, but we did gain some signatures for the
petition. The petition is against backyard slaughter on Maui and can be
found here.

Chimps paraded at the fair
Members of
Animal Rights Hawai'i, including one in a prisoner costume and a lifelike
Chimpanzee mask, urged fair goers to not visit the performing Ape act at
