June 1, 2002 11:00 am

WHERE: ocean side of Kewalo Basin Marine Mammal Laboratory/the Dolphin Institute (ewa end of Ala Moana Beach Park) Parking (free) available at Kaka'ako and Ala Moana Parks, as well as metered at Kewalo Basin Harbor

WHY: To commemorate the liberation of Puka and Kea, 2 prisoner Dolphins, from the KBMML on May 29, 1977- 25 years ago by Ken Le Vasseur and Steve Sipman, and to remind people that there are 4 more captives, hidden away from public scrutiny, in cramped, decrepit conditions. We are calling for the animals to be rehabilitated and returned to the Gulf of Mexico where they were dolphin-napped away from their family.
