Spay and Neuter

A very critical issue facing TRACS and the Kelowna area is cat overpopulation. Escalating cat euthanasia statistics have prompted certain communities in BC to enact spay-neuter bylaws, and TRACS directors are currently in the process of studying this issue.

Educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering alone has not been able to reduce the population of unwanted cats. A bylaw would further this necessary action, and would support proper companion animal care.
