Tim Trousdell
Board Member
Tim was born in India in 1925, he had 5 years of
childhood in Egypt and was schooled in England. He
served in the British army from 1943 to 1950, with
infantry battalion in Italy in 1945. He immigrated
to Canada in 1950 to farm Vancouver Island. He had
teacher training in the Normal School in Victoria
(1956-1957) then taught at Monterey Elementary
School (grade 5) from 1958 to 1961. He attended
Victoria College from 1961 to 1963 and earned a BA
in History (1st Class Honours). He went to Ottawa
and served on the Communications Branch National
Research Council from 1963 to 1970; then was in the
Prime Minister's Office from 1970 to 1972 and from
1973 to 1974. He returned to Vancouver Island in
1974 to a hobby farm in Duncan. He is married with
3 children, all now in their 50s.
Tim served on the Volunteer Society Board
starting in 1984 for 5 or 6 years (President 2 or
3); Seniors Advisory Society starting in 1987 for
18 years (President for 8); Co-Chaired Cowichan
Communities Health Planning Committee for 2 or 3
years in the 1980s; served on a number of other
committees. He joined the Board of CFCSS in 2007.
He has also been involved with Providence Farm for
many years. Awarded Governor General's Caring
Canadian Award in 2002.
