Heather Payne
Community Health
Consultant
Heather grew up in Manitoba, training to be a
nurse at Children's Hospital in Winnipeg and at the
University of Manitoba. After teaching nursing for
a while she moved to a government position as
Senior Consultant for Urban Hospitals, and for all
community health centres in the province.
Moving to Vancouver Island in 1987, Heather
worked for the BC Ministry of Health as Manager for
Evaluation of all programs. In 1989 she became
Health Director for Cowichan Tribes, a position
that she held until it was taken over by a band
member in 1999. She now works as a private
consultant in Community Health.
Heather, and her husband who is retiring, will
soon be returning to Manitoba to be closer to their
grandchildren who are pretty special.
