Kill Box at Natural Valley Farms horse slaughterhouse. The kill box is designed for cattle and inappropriate for use with horses. The pen is far too large for the horses - one horse managed to jump into the air, turn herself around and lodge herself in the pen. The floor is metal and becomes extremely slippery when covered with blood. The horses who enter the pen still shod (the vast majority) have a particularly difficult time in the pen as their metal shoes slip on the slick metal floor. Many of the horses repeatedly fell in the pen. The head stanchion in the front allows the horse in the pen to see the horse in front of it suspended and bleeding out. Many horses attempted to stick their heads as far through the stanchion as possible to reach the suspended horse.
