Seal Slaughter Protest in Germany
Text and pictures of a seal slaughter protest held in Stuttgart.
Here is a firsthand description of specifics during a seal slaughter protest in Germany.
Hi Ericka,
Thanks for your email. Here are three of the pictures you asked for. They were taken in Stuttgart, Germany on March 21, 2009, during the information/demonstration session held by "Menschen für Tierrechte" against cruelty to animals with focus on the Canadian seal massacre.
In the first picture I explain what's happening in the bone-chilling slaughter of baby seals using the materials Bruce gave me.
In the second picture you see one of our members (a vegan) who talks with visitors who will volunteer with this organization I belong to. In the back you see a cage where people can experience for themselves how it feels to be crammed in a cage without space to turn around.
In the third picture you see three of the many children who came to the booth totally upset about what happens to the baby seals and their mothers in Canada. Although the Dad was in a hurry, the three boys insisted to sign absolutely every petition.
In the letter I wrote to Senator Harb which I attached to my last email to you, I wrote about the little girl who was writing with her whole school to the mayors in Newfoundland asking them to stop the heart-breaking massacre. Given the fact that so many children are horrified by the Canadian slaughter and that people from all over the world are seen in Stuttgart and other European cities, means that Canada's reputation is being destroyed worldwide and for generations to come.
I was standing for 7 hours in or beside one of the two booths set up by the organization. I had no time to eat, drink or go to the washroom since visitors flocked to the booths without a break. It was good to see again how many people care for animals.
Like in previous years, I also wrote letters which were sent to many newspapers in Germany for those people who do not know precisely what's happening, although I think there are few or any left at all. The whole country is upset about the Canadian holocaust for animals.
Ericka, let's hope the EU will put a total ban on all seal-derived products. I wrote to the countries you indicated which are not yet willing to establish the ban. Given all your efforts and those of other people and organizations, there is hope that the crime will come to an end.
Have a good weekend.
Inge
