Animal Transport Regulations

This is a petition to strengthen the transport regulations for farm animals.

The Canadian Coalition for Farm Animals has spearheaded a new Transport Coalition in Canada consisting of a number of national and international organizations concerned with the welfare of farm animals during transport.

The first action of the Coalition is a petition which calls upon the members of the House of Commons to make long-promised and long-awaited improvements to our archaic regulations. When signed by 25 (or more) citizens or residents of Canada, the petition may be read into the House of Commons by a Member of Parliament, thus drawing attention to the need for revision of Canada's outdated animal transportation standards.

Please consider helping with this first-ever initiative by downloading and printing 3 copies of the petition. Ask at least 25 people to sign the petition, and to print their name and address. The address may consist of the person's full address, or only the city and province. Either is acceptable. It is a good idea to get more than 25 names in case one or more names is disqualified when the petitions are certified.

Start a new page once the spaces are filled, so you will need three pages for 25 or more names. Do not get signatures on the back of petitions, as they will be disqualified.

To be certified, a petition must have no erasures or alterations to the text, including crossing out or adding words or commentary.

When you have obtained at least 25 signatures, send the completed petitions to the Canadian Coalition for Farm Animals. The address is on the bottom of the petition. The Coalition will ask a Member of Parliament (MP) to read it into the House of Commons.
