We tend, however, to focus on the bad ones forgetting too easily that we have a lot of good ones as well. Without these good habits, we may cease to exist. So what to do about the ones we really don't need around? Well, the first step is to acknowledge that you do have some good habits - this is a way to prove to yourself that you really can do it right. The second step is to do away with the 'break' concept. It is too violent! Besides, you may wind up breaking much more than the bad habit and regret it later. Put one & two together and you get step three - don't break bad habits, just start new good ones. Time Tippies The old commercial "Don't wait till spring, do it now!" has plenty of merit. We sometimes spend more time figuring out how & when to do things rather than just getting on with it. While the importance of careful planning is never understated, most procrasinations disguise themselves with 'good intentions'. So if you're waiting to do something and it needs to be done, just get on with it and there will be one less thing to do. Inspiration The parents were worried about their son when he was slow learning to talk, failed to play with other boys and did poorly at school. He disliked the strict discipline in class, not wanting to memorize and mechanically repeat material. His teachers in elementary and secondary school thought him stupid. However, at age 12, he discovered geometry and continued to read and study mathematics and science on his own. By age 15, he knew he wanted to specialize in mathematics and physics. By the time he reached 30, Albert Einstein had become publicly recognized for his genius. He was a man with a strong social conscience who abhorred war, spoke out for peace, sponsored movements and endorsed issues. His friend wrote of him, "Whatever he might say would be the product of his own mind uninfluenced by the shrieks of the outside world." We honor this kindly genius who lived according to his convictions and had the courage to carve is own path. Funecdotes Little Doris was lying on her back on the floor singing. A little later when her mother came into the room again, Doris was on her stomach now, still singing away. "Playing a game, Doris?" asked mother. " Yes, " replied Doris seriously, " I'm a record and I just turned myself over. "
